 Description

I randomly get FileRenameFailed error on my MongoDB service that causes it to terminate.

The user which runs the service has full access to "C:\Program Files\MongoDB"

I would also mention that this error never occured untill this month which happend twice.

I have attached the full stacktrace

Hey sebastian.amihaesie@gmail.com!

Thank you for your report. The following failure in the stacktrace:

{"t":{"$date":"2023-11-17T13:22:16.898+02:00"},"s":"F", "c":"CONTROL", "id":4757800, "ctx":"ftdc","msg":"Writing fatal message","attr":{"message":"DBException::toString(): FileRenameFailed: Access is denied\nActual exception type: class mongo::error_details::ExceptionForImpl<37,class mongo::AssertionException>\n"}}

indicates that the mongod does not have the necessary permissions to rename files in its dbpath. I would suggest investigating other tasks on the machine running that may be interfering with the mongod's permissions.

As this ticket does not appear to be a bug, I'm going to go ahead and close it. If you need further assistance troubleshooting, I encourage you to ask our community by posting on the MongoDB Developer Community Forums. If the discussion there leads you to suspect a bug in the MongoDB server, then we'd want to investigate it as a possible bug here in the SERVER project.

Additionally, you can view our Jira for prior reports of this on Windows machines, or consider resolutions proposed by users in this thread on the forums.

Chris
