Is there any way to calculate approximate maximal config server database size, if I know storage limit for all mongod instances in replica sets of sharded cluster? |

Hi Nick, The config database stores metadata about your sharded cluster, and the size is not specifically related to the storage limit of your individual mongod instances. The config database is typically very small (on the order of Mb, not Gb). The largest collection in the config database is often the changelog, which is a 10Mb capped collection. The size of the metadata will vary based on your shard keys, chunk size, and data. The manual contains more information on the collections in the config database. I would also note that the SERVER project is for reporting bugs or feature suggestions for the MongoDB server. For MongoDB-related support discussion you should post on the mongodb-users group (http://groups.google.com/group/mongodb-user) or Stack Overflow / ServerFault. Thanks, |
