&lt;p&gt;Thanks for the idea. There is lots of interest in this.  There is also a lot of problems that need to be resolved and it isn&apos;t solely a driver issue and would likely need some server support as well. Some questions off the top of my head...&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;1. How many mongos&apos; do we discover? There could be hundreds spread across the world.&lt;br/&gt;
2. How do we determine which mongos&apos; to include? We don&apos;t have locality or tagging available.&lt;br/&gt;
