&lt;p&gt;I&apos;m not sure this is a driver related question. Please advice:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;1. I would like to understand the impact of the unique index. Can it damage our performance?&lt;br/&gt;
2. About the .Net driver, maybe this is a general case for all the drivers: Can we call conditional select+insert as an Atomic Action?&lt;br/&gt;
for example: I would like to insert new user only if it&apos;s LoginName doesn&apos;t exist and do this with 1 call.&lt;/p&gt;
