We don't have a performance test using key size smaller than or equal to WT_COMPARE_SHORT_MAXLEN. However, mongodb's collection key size is a single integer which is smaller than or equal to WT_COMPARE_SHORT_MAXLEN. We need to create a performance test to track the performance of the btrees with small keys.
