While --forceTableScan on MMAPv1 may generate duplicate documents with the same _id, on WiredTiger this is not a risk. Therefore, --forceTableScan is the preferred option as it may result in significant performance gains. See TOOLS-1952 where I propose that we change this default on WiredTiger.
