We are adding a new BSON subtype for this project. It's not fully fledged out yet. This ticket just added the placeholder in the server code. It is meant to be opaque but a user that reads directly from the time-series bucket would get this data back. We want that to be handled gracefully by the drivers even if they don't know how to interpret the data.
