Since 5.1, we added this catalogStats section for serverStatus. However, the docs today (as of 7.3) still doesn't document this section. This was previous tracked DOCS-14505, but it does not appear on the public docs page to this date.

"catalogStats" section of serverStatus has the following schema:

• "collections": number of user collections (non-system collections on databases other than 'config', 'admin', and 'local')
• "capped": number of capped user collections
• "views": number of user views
• "timeseries:" number of user time-series collections
• "internalCollections": number of system collections or collections on 'config', 'admin', or 'local' databases
• "internalViews": number of views on 'config', 'admin', or 'local' databases
