    Description

      In this section

      http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/faq/storage/#why-are-the-files-in-my-data-directory-larger-than-the-data-in-my-database

under "Empty Records", the page says:

MongoDB can reuse this space, but will never return this space to the operating system.

To reclaim deleted space, use either of the following:

      • compact, which de-fragments deleted space. [...]

This to me reads as if I could use compact to reclaim deleted space, which is not correct. There is a little yellow warning box below that states that compact won't reclaim disk space, but the two statements contradict each other, which is confusing.

This should be clarified and compact should not be listed under

      "To reclaim deleted space, ..."
