i think we can make this doc page better and need to as i see questions in google groups about the config files.

for example there are old command line options that aren't listed on this page with any equivalent. is there no equivalent? what do i do in that case? we should explain whatever the answer is.

also there is a notion of "parameters" that is distinct from the config options. how are parameters different? do we explain that well in the docs and such?

perhaps we need some sort of table that is

command line option yaml config file form
