SERVER-18474 adds the ability to generate core dumps on some mongod failures. Since this may cause problems in production environments I think we should add a step to the future 3.2 release notes and upgrade instructions for users to disable core dumps at the OS level.
Core dumps are typically disabled by default on Linux, so this may not be an issue in most/all deployments as it is rare for users to enable core dumps. Still, a line in the upgrade docs may prevent production problems down the line.
If we want to be extra careful we can consider a startup check that prints a warning if the logs if code dumps are enabled at the OS level.
