I see that there are three MongoDB whitepapers
- MongoDB on AWS: Guidelines and Best Practices
- Backup and Its Role in Disaster Recovery
- MongoDB Multi-Data Center Deployments
We have been seeing several support tickets asking about DR. Some of the customers are really naive on their DR planning and frankly really do not understand what DR really means, business continuity. Business continuity is allot more than applying technology.
BTW, there is an excellent US government site on this very topic, business continuity.
We should have a white paper that that at least relates the commonly understood business continuity concepts and types with MongoDB configuration possibilities like MongoDB replica set types or even deployment types (AWS versus local, but multi-DC, or a combination thereof).
The goal of this paper is not be an exhaustive treatise on business continuity. We can reference canonical sites on this subject. Instead, it should leave the customer with the notion that they need to do homework first (come prepared) and we have the expertise to help.
