Description
The new 3.4 tools add support for dumping views with mongodump. The default behavior is to dump each view's metadata, so that they are restored as functional views. mongodump has a new option --viewsAsCollections. When specified, mongodump will dump the data produced by each applicable view without any metadata, so they can be restored as standard collections in another database. A --viewsAsCollections dump will not contain any data from standard collections in the source database.
Older versions of mongodump are incapable of dumping views. Attempting to use a 3.2 version of mongodump to do so will fail.
