When the sidebar connection fails, the window shows "Failed to connect" and, alongside that, hides all the buttons - leaving the user to search for another way to add a new connection. From what's visible on screen, the only option is the small "+" on the sidebar. We should improve this, e.g. keep the buttons visible in the failing state as well.
