One major area in which we expect logging to be helpful will be connectivity. We have already received positive feedback on the logging data provided by mongosh in this area. Consequently, we will at least log the following data to match mongosh’s logging in this area:

• The Compass version, driver version, connection string, and MongoClient options that are used once the MongoClient is created
• Server heartbeat failures and successes
• As long as Compass does manual SRV resolution: The before/after state of the SRV resolution, and errors if the SRV resolution fails
