The experience of adding a date field in the data explorer is a little cumbersome. It defaults to a blank field, is kind of hard to figure out where to click, and then its not so easy to figure out how to fill out the value.

We should consider defaulting to seeding the new field with the current date time so that the user can either (a) automatically have that in the likely case that it is what they are trying to do or (b) have a template value that they can update
