For .NET Core versions < 3.0, the version string in our client metadata document is not particularly useful because it is hard to interpret. There are various suggested fixes for this online that will attempt to make an educated guess as to the version of .NET Core that the application is running on. Having this data will allow us to make better decisions in the future about what version of .NET to support.
