      1. What would you like to communicate to the user about this feature?
      2. Would you like the user to see examples of the syntax and/or executable code and its output?
      3. Which versions of the driver/connector does this apply to?

We need to revisit the way that `Conventions.Apply` works. The linked ticket showed how a stack overflow was obtained by calling `memberMap.GetSerializer` on a property of the same type of the enclosing type.
This caused a stack overflow due to an infinite loop. That ticket has been solved, but we need to revisit the way we do things in order to avoid this kind of loop.
