      CXX-3063 identified an undesirable property of old release processes which regenerated all documentation, including old API documentation, with every release. (This is no longer the case following CXX-3063.)

      Without any Doxygen version checks to enforce consistency, the appearance and even the contents of old API doc pages may have changed arbitrarily with every release.

      The gh-pages branch may need to be audited and old API doc pages reverted to their original state (at the time of their respective release).
