Currently, new driver releases are noted for overall MongoDB compatibility (e.g. https://docs.mongodb.com/ecosystem/drivers/java/), however there is no reference point with regard to a minimum version of wire protocol/MongoDB server required for each improvement.

Customers are interested in having the above information noted (e.g. - under What's New or elsewhere) together with indication if any of the improvements work back to the earlier versions.
