Once standardized logging (DRIVERS-1204) and CSOT (DRIVERS-555) have been implemented the retryability specs (retryable reads and retryable writes) should amend their position on logging retry attempts.
Drivers MAY choose to log retry attempts for [write|read] operations. This specification does not define a format for such log messages.
The current guidance should be more prescriptive to ensure end users can consistently determine the success/failure of retried operations from their logs.
