Major - P3 Problem Statement: The Straight to 8 program is to enable select high-value enterprise customers to seamlessly upgrade directly from MongoDB 4.4/5.0 to 8.0 without downtime or additional hardware as a one-time solution. This program is a strategic and highly visible R&D goal with significant business and technical impact for the company.
Need: In general old drivers will support the new MongoDB version, but not all the new MongoDB features will be supported. Given the possible driver versions that our customers are running might not be fully supported for MongoDB 8 we will need to identify and document the scenarios where there may be issues.
Timeframe: Q2/Q3
The scope of the support/testing needs is still TBD and under discussion.
Potential Items: Analysis of Morgan Stanley driver configurations and associated risk profile - Details to be provided - Other potential customers TBD but possibly to include MCAS, HSBC, and Barclays.
Potential Regression testing/Sanity tests: Latest driver versions with the s8 binaries - (4.4-s8 (FCV 4.4), 5.0-s8 (FCV 5.0) and 8.0-s8 (FCV 7.0))
