Based on the build failure reported in GODRIVER-1727 and on follow-up investigation by divjot.arora and roberto.sanchez, it appears that the libmonogcrypt-static pkg-config script is broken. In particular, the investigation revealed that even when specifying the libmongocrypt-static package to pkg-config that there were numerous linker errors describing undefined references to kms_* and bson_* functions. This indicates that libs field of the libmongocrypt-static pkg-config script is missing elements.
