After some investigation, it turns out that publication via our own PPA is not very feasible. As a result and after some internal discussion, we have decided that a better way to approach this is to submit a package for publication via the official Alpine aports (in the community directory). This is both feasible for us and also more convenient for users than the other potential solutions. The ticket title has been updated to reflect the new direction.
