      Hi folks!

      I've merged MONGOID-808 and MONGOID-810 with the feedback from @KieranP. There is still a refactoring left to do around caching the typecast value of the attribute, but we found that the '@attributes' hash is being accessed all over the place.

      Being relatively new to the codebase, it seemed like too much of a change to go into at once, so we preferred a smaller, DTSTTCP approach for now. Is this advisable?

      We have started another branch (not pushed yet) to do some of that refactoring. Will keep y'all posted!
