The ability for Node.JS applications to connect to Atlas clusters via a proxy is an attractive option for users utilizing services such as Heroku with the Fixie or QuotaGuard add-ons that specify a static outbound IP that could then be used to forward requests from the Heroku application to Atlas clusters. This would address concerns regarding Heroku’s dynamic IP address assignment, allow for more explicit whitelisting in their deployments, and give users more security architecture options for their environment.
