How are you using Mongo? What version of the server and driver are you using?

      Latest version of everything.

What is the feature/improvement you would like?

I’d like there to be a notice or warning telling users that new Binary(string) accepts its argument in ISO-8859-1/uses the legacy JS “binary string” concept, not UTF-8 as one would expect nowadays.

What use case would this feature/improvement enable?

      It prevents data loss.
