The Architecture Overview article was written to introduce the mongodb extension to users of the legacy mongo extension. This article may still serve a purpose in discussing the relationship between the PHP library and extension, but much of it is due to revision. For example, there's no reason we should still refer to the obsolete HHVM driver.
