      1. What would you like to communicate to the user about this feature?
      2. Would you like the user to see examples of the syntax and/or executable code and its output?
      3. Which versions of the driver/connector does this apply to?

There is a possibility that one or more changes made to the internal behavior of mongoc_handshake_data_append() by CDRIVER#2261 (commit) is not backward-compatible as intended (e.g. the handling of trailing delimiters or the conditional append/truncation behavior of mongoc platform values in the platform string). Any observable breaking changes in the behavior of the existing global handshake metadata append function should be reported as a bug to the C Driver.
