      Context

      PYTHON-6074 fixed the client-wide pool deadlock when gevent greenlets are killed mid-operation, and added a regression test. That test is flaking in CI on green-gevent-rhel8 (pypy3.11) — 4 identical failures since Sep 24, all with the watchdog reporting a pool deadlock.

      h3. Definition of done


      - Checkout path made resilient to greenlet kills, consistent with the existing PYTHON-6074 fix approach
      - CI test extended to exercise the checkout-path window deterministically (currently only the checkin path is amplified)

      Pitfalls


      - Don't change CMAP event behavior: restructuring the rollback could alter event emission
      - The race is timing-dependent (only flakes on PyPy in CI)
