For some reason, applying the linter plugin changes how the classpath is evaluated. I can see a lot of discussions around how Gradle handles plugin classpath, so I suspect the root cause is hidden somewhere there. But it would be nice if the linters didn't specified the version of the gradle plugin. It is a weird place to do it.
