Right now, connections are selected based on ping. Instead, allow them to be selected using other metrics, like repl lag or current query load. Thanks to the magic of EBS, we regularly have one repl server fall behind by ~10 minutes or so for an hour or more, if that server were skipped (or made a much less frequent query target), we'd see faster average queries and it would recover more quickly.
