Whenever a new version of Rust comes out, we generally start seeing clippy failures due to new lints being added. This can break work in progress patches and can be a bit disruptive. We should consider pinning the version of clippy used in the tests so that we can fix the issues separately without interrupting unrelated work.

Each time a new Rust version is released we'll need to file a new ticket to ensure we keep up to date. It would be cool if we could somehow automate this with Jira.
