Currently, if no timestamp is set on a recovery unit before committing, the write is written with no/zero timestamp. In order to prevent situations where a user accidentally forgets to set their timestamp, we could consider changing the API so that setting a timestamp (or explicitly specifying that no/zero timestamp is desired) is always required in order to commit.
