Today, with the $sort modifier update operator used with $push, it currently uses PatternElementCmp to store the sort pattern. We should re-use SortPattern instead, which is used with agg stages. This would not only align capabilities (such as expression comparison), but also allow for re-use of its serialize(...) method for shapification use.
