WRITING-34277 requests we should report certain statistics (Writes completed, Documents read, Index entries read, I/O bytes read/written) aggregated per pool, or alternative per type of operation (short / long).

These metrics are only collected for the slow log because collecting them for all operations would be too expensive. WRITING-34277 still wants to aggregate them even if they are not perfectly accurate.
