Our multiversion testing (and possibly all testing in general) should use validate in the way that we run it against Atlas, which is using the latest mongod binary with the --validate startup option. We risk not detecting issues earlier that we would in the fleet.
Right now, we run the validate command when we shut down test fixtures, but we should probably shut down nodes and then run --validate.
