Set the default_mock_behavior gmock flag to 2 (0 is nice, 1 is naggy, 2 is strict) prior to calling init. Consider having a listener look for the failure from calling an "uninteresting" method and throw (either a dedicated DBException code or testing::AssertionException rather than returning a default-constructed value.
