A certain customer has a lot of queries with $unionWith, both at the top level and within subpipelines. Dedicated jstests are needed that exercise those situations with join optimization enabled, as the combination of $unionWith + $lookup + $unwind or $lookup (with $unionWith) + $unwind is unlikely to be present in existing jstests tests except by chance.
