Log server connections are based on addresses which lose and try to regain the segment id, but this is a lossy process which results in segments 0,1,2 being flattened to 0,0,0. Downstream of this are a lot of handling that tries to undo that loss.

Instead in this PR we just avoid discarding that information, plumb the relevant segment IDs through to the connection and use those there.
