Disagg (layered) tables don't support version cursors, the attempt to create one causes a corrupt cursor to be returned, see https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/AF-19428?focusedCommentId=8781662&focusedId=8781662&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel#comment-8781662.

Long term the intention is to support this but for the time being we need a workaround to avoid creating them.
