same batch request takes much long to finish with more shards on the same data

      We are using mongo 2.4.9

      After we increased the number of shards (without increasing the overall data size significantly), the same batch request takes much longer to finish. Is this because the mongos dispatches the requests to the shards in a serial way? any suggestions how to solve it?
