      It is the implementation of mmapv1 .ns files and has nothing to do with indexes. This has the weird effect of ns file allocations logging under a different component than other allocations:

      2016-06-22T00:01:01.011+0000 I INDEX    [conn2] allocating new ns file \data\db\job5\mongorunner\tags-0\foo.ns, filling with zeroes...
...
2016-06-22T00:01:05.474+0000 I STORAGE  [FileAllocator] allocating new datafile \data\db\job5\mongorunner\tags-0\foo.0, filling with zeroes...
