auth_utils.js authutils.assertAuthenticate should handle hangups better

      Some tests (eg. reposts/rollback_auth.js) use auth_utils.js to check the replication progress when it is possible for the server to hang up on clients. It would be desirable for authutils.assertAuthenticate to detect hangups and retry the auth operation.
