This is a intentional re-opening of SERVER-27289, as it seems that the assignee on that ticket is "inactive", and therefore this ticket might just fall through the holes.

MongoDB 3.4.0 introduce a regression in the shell that prevents the '--host' parameter to work with replicasets. This breaks at least my integration scripts in a very ugly way, and it was confirmed that this is unintentional.

Please backport the fix from 3.5 to 3.4.
