      In SERVER-52588 and SERVER-52767 we implemented the upgrade/downgrade steps that patch up sharding metadata when upgrading to 5.0 or downgrading from 5.0.

      Once 5.0 has branched out, this code is no longer necessary. This ticket is to remove it.
