These functions give up remapping the private view if they cannot obtain a global write lock within a prescribed period. Unfortunately, it's not OK for them to give up, as under high write load, this can cause mongod's memory footprint to balloon.
DurableImpl::commitIfNeeded and dur.cpp's _groupCommit are not sufficiently aggressive
