I incorrectly made a tag doc that looked like:

{ns:"whatever", min:10, max:100, tag:"foo"}

(instead of {ns:"whatever", min:

{shardKey:10}

, max:

{shardKey:100}

, tag:"foo"}). The balancer started logging: "caught exception while doing balance: invalid parameter: expected an object (max)" which was pretty cryptic.
