During skunkworks I wrote a script to help automate inspecting WT data files from MongoDB, without needing knowledge of using the wt tool manually. It may be useful to look into having this script already available on spawn hosts for inspecting data files from build failures. Even if that is not feasible, it can still be polished up a bit and made more readily available.
