Currently, the default is 5 seconds. This might be too frequent given that most of the time there should be no collections with query sampling enabled. 10 seconds seems like a reasonable interval that still allows a sampler (i.e. mongos or mongod) to update the coordinator about the traffic going through it in the case where there is actually a collection with query sampling enabled.
